What employers actually check

1. Your trade test. For welders, fitters, fabricators and electricians, the practical test decides. An ITI certificate gets you the interview; passing the 3G/6G weld, the fit-up or the panel wiring test gets you the job.
2. Certificates that match the site. Gulf oil & gas projects ask for third-party certificates (for example ARAMCO-approved rigger and scaffolder cards, H2S and confined-space training). Safety officers need NEBOSH or IOSH. Drivers need the local licence.
3. Experience with the right equipment and industry. "Maintenance fitter, 5 years, cement plant" is worth more to a cement company than "fitter, 8 years" with no detail. Write it that way on your resume.
4. Documents. Passport with at least 18 months' validity for overseas jobs, ITI/diploma certificates, experience letters, and a medical fitness certificate (GAMCA for the Gulf).

How Gulf recruitment works — and how to avoid being cheated

Most Gulf hiring of Indian trade workers goes through licensed recruitment agents registered with the Ministry of External Affairs (check the agent's licence number on the eMigrate portal). The employer pays the agent; genuine agencies may charge you only the government-permitted service fee, never lakhs of rupees "for the visa". Interviews are usually a trade test at a test centre in India, followed by a medical and then the visa.
