Mainframe Developer

About the role

Mainframe Developer We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Developer with 4+ years of hands-on development experience in COBOL, JCL, and DB2. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in developing, enhancing, debugging, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. Key Responsibilities • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. • Write and optimise DB2 SQL queries, joins, cursors, and stored procedures. • Troubleshoot DB2 issues using SQLCODEs and perform root-cause analysis. • Develop and maintain CICS programs and screens. • Work with VSAM files and batch processing. • Create and maintain JCL jobs using SORT utilities for sorting, merging, filtering, and comparing multiple files. • Perform file processing using both COBOL programs and JCL/SORT. • Use TSO/ISPF for development, testing, debugging, and job monitoring. • Work with mainframe tools such as ChangeMan/Endeavor, File-AID, SPUFI, TraceMaster, and Insync. • Participate in coding, unit testing, debugging, production support, and deployment activities. • Collaborate with technical leads, QA teams, business teams, and other developers to deliver quality solutions. Required Skills • 4+ years of Mainframe Development experience. • Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, and DB2. • Good knowledge of CICS, VSAM, and TSO/ISPF. • Strong understanding of DB2 SQL, cursors, SQLCODEs, and database operations. • Hands-on experience with SORT commands, including sorting and merging two or more files through JCL. • Knowledge of DB2 Stored Procedures. • Experience with CICS screen development is preferred. • Working experience with IBM MQ/MQ Series. • Experience with ChangeMan/Endeavor, File-AID, SPUFI, TraceMaster, and Insync. • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and production support skills. Good to Have • Experience in performance tuning of COBOL, DB2, and JCL applications. • Experience handling complex production issues and application enhancements. • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development practices. • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
