Software Engineer – Junior / Mid-Level
About the role
Company: Softech Associate Employment: Full-time / Contract Work Arrangement: Remote Level: Junior to Mid-Level About Softech Associate Softech Associate is a software engineering and IT consulting company that helps businesses design, build, improve, and scale reliable software products. We work with different clients and projects, so our engineers are exposed to a variety of technical challenges and business needs. We value strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving, clear communication, and continuous learning. About the Role We are looking for Junior and Mid-Level Software Engineers to join our growing engineering team. This position is not centered around one specific programming language or framework. We are more interested in how you approach problems, understand software systems, learn new technologies, and work with other people. You will contribute to real software projects while working alongside other engineers. Depending on your experience, you may own smaller features independently or contribute to larger projects with guidance from more experienced team members. What You’ll Do • Design, build, test, and maintain software features. • Work with APIs, databases, services, and modern software applications. • Understand requirements and turn them into practical technical solutions. • Debug issues and investigate the root cause of problems. • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions. • Write readable, maintainable, and well-tested code. • Work with Git and collaborative development workflows. • Communicate your progress, questions, and blockers clearly. • Learn unfamiliar technologies when a project requires them. • Work with teammates and clients in a remote environment. What We’re Looking For We are looking for engineers with a good foundation in software development rather than expertise in one particular technology. You should have: • A basic to solid understanding of software engineering principles. • Experience with at least one modern programming language. • Understanding of data structures and common programming concepts. • Familiarity with APIs, databases, and web or software applications. • Basic knowledge of Git and version control. • Ability to break a problem into smaller, manageable parts. • Willingness to learn new technologies and development practices. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for help. • A responsible and collaborative approach to your work. Experience Junior candidates: Professional experience is helpful but not required. Strong personal projects, internships, freelance work, open-source contributions, or other practical development experience will also be considered. Mid-level candidates: We expect practical professional experience delivering software and the ability to take ownership of features with limited guidance. We care more about demonstrated engineering ability and growth potential than an exact number of years. Nice to Have Experience in any of the following is helpful, but not required: • Cloud platforms • Relational or NoSQL databases • REST APIs and service integrations • Automated testing • CI/CD and modern deployment practices • Containers or cloud-native development • AI or LLM-powered applications • Agile software development • Working with distributed or remote teams You do not need experience with everything listed above. What We Value At Softech Associate, we value engineers who are curious, dependable, and willing to improve. We especially appreciate people who can explain how they reached a technical decision, accept feedback, communicate when they are blocked, and take responsibility for the quality of their work. For junior engineers, we value learning ability and strong fundamentals. For mid-level engineers, we also look for increasing independence, sound technical judgment, and ownership. Why Join Us? You’ll have the opportunity to work on real software projects, solve different kinds of engineering problems, and continue developing your technical skills. Because we work across different projects and technologies, you will not be limited to one narrow technical stack. You’ll have opportunities to learn from experienced engineers while gradually taking ownership of larger problems. How to Apply Please send your resume and, if available, your LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio, or examples of projects you have worked on.
